  1. Mōrena Iliana,

It is lovely meeting you! I am so excited that you are joining us for the Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020. Have you done this programme before?

This is my first year joining the Summer Learning Journey, and I am so excited that I get to read over the Manaiakalani blogs.

I’m really looking forward to summer, aren't you? In my spare time I like spending time at the beach and hanging out with my friends. I also enjoy going for walks and I absolutely love cooking and baking. What are you looking forward to doing this summer?

Your blog post looks great! Thank you so much for sharing about your background. Samoa is such a beautiful country with such a unique culture and history! :)

What is your favourite part about your background and culture? Have you had the opportunity to learn Samoan? We'd love to hear what you have to say! :)

  2. Good Afternoon Iliana,

You probably remember me but I am Sam, from room 5. I am part of the Summer Learning Journey as a commenter and have the responsibility of reading through the Maniakalani blogs and leaving positive comments.

It is great that you are Samoan. Samoa is such an amazing country with a very interesting and versatile culture. Does your family follow or abide by some of the customs and traditions of Samoa? I am humbled to find out where you come from in the form of this fantastic blog.

It was a very good blog, however a minor thing that is worth mentioning is very important and that is punctuation and grammar. I love writing and it can be very frustrating but paying constant attention to spelling, full stops and capital letters will lead to it becoming second nature, so it is just something to keep in mind.

This is a beautiful blog post, however, don't forget to attribute all the images that you use in your blog posts. Attributing images is when you acknowledge the source of the images. This is very important and is a handy skill to remember for college. Apart from those two points, this was a very good blog. Well done, Iliana.

    Kind Regards,
    Samuel
